SSL VPN Setup Instructions for iPhone

Historically, PSMail has not supported SSL VPN service for the iPhone. However, PSMail now utilizes a 3rd party application called GuizmOVPN to allow our customers access to VPN service through the iPhone. GuizmOVPN (www.guizmovpn.com) is an OpenVPN client for the iPhone available for installation on Jailbroken devices. It costs 4.99 € (around $7) and includes a 7 day trial period.

The following instructions have been tested on:

• iPhone 3GS, iOS 3.1.3, iOS 4.0, and iOS 4.0.1
• iPhone 4, iOS 4.0, and iOS 4.01
• iPad 3.2.1

Please note that GuizmOVPN can only be installed on a jailbroken iPhone which has Cydia installed. (NOTE: Jailbreaking is a process that allows iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch users to download many extensions and themes previously unavailable through the app store via unofficial installers such as Cydia. PSMail does not provide support for jail breaking your iPhone.)

Before beginning the installation process, please make sure you are connected to the Internet using your wireless connection. The computer you are reading these instructions from and your iPhone must be connected to the same network.

Step 1: Open your iPhone's home screen.

Step 2: Open Cydia and select the Manage tab. Then click on Sources.

Step 3: Click Edit in the top right of the screen. Then click Add.

Step 4: Enter http://cydia.guizmovpn.com in the blank field and then click Add Source.

Step 5: Wait for the Updating Sources process to complete. Then click Return to Cydia.

Step 6: Click Done in the top right corner. Then click on the cydia.guizmovpn.com source.

Step 7: Click on com.guizmo.openvpn.

Step 8: Click Install in the top right corner of the screen. Then click Confirm when prompted.

Step 9: The OpenVPN application will install automatically. When it completes, click Restart SpringBoard.

Step 10: You will now have the GuizmOVPN icon on your springboard.

Step 11: Open GuizmOVPN and accept the evaluation prompt. Then click on the Settings tab at the bottom of the OpenVPN window.

Step 12: Slide the button next to Web Server to On. Note the IP address and port listed (http://10.9.30.114:2095 is shown in the example below). Open this address in the web browser on your computer.

Step 13: A Configurations screen like the one shown below will open.

Step 14: Minimize this window for a moment. Then, download the PSVPN iPhone configuration file by clicking https://mail.psmail.net/secure/vpn/sslvpn/PSVPN-iPhone.zip.

Once this is complete, maximize your browser again and use the Browse button to find the configuration file you just downloaded. Then click Submit.

Step 15: Once the configuration has uploaded you will see it listed in the browser.

Step 16: Next, on your iPhone, disable the web server by setting the Web Server button to Off.

Step 17: Click on the General tab and you will now see that PSVPN-iPhone is listed. Select PSVPN-iPhone and drag the Connect button to On.

Step 18: You will be prompted to enter your PSMail username (e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and password. When you have done so, click OK.

Step 19: Now the General page should show that your connection is On and display an OpenVPN icon in the top right corner of your screen.

Step 20: You may now browse the Internet and use your email securely. When you are finished using the VPN, open GuizmOVPN and drag the button next to Connect to Off. This will disconnect your VPN connection.

To confirm that you are using the VPN correctly, open your Safari browser on the iPhone and go to https://mail.psmail.net/mail/. Log into your PSMail account.

Once you are logged on, click on Using VPN? in the left-hand column. This will tell you if you are properly connected to the VPN or alert you if there is a problem.

Step 21: As of now, you've only signed up for GuizmOVPN's 7 day trial. After the trial completes, the VPN will disconnect every 5 minutes with a 5 minute delay between each connection. To order the full version of GuizmoVPN, go to www.guizmovpn.com and click on Register. Then click Buy Now.

Once you have purchased GuizmOVPN you will need to open the software on your iPhone and select the Register button. Enter the email address and serial number provided by Guizmo.
